Now, you may be thinking, "You're making Candles?! But you are Wild Balms and Salves Co., a skincare company?!" Let me explain!
The main difference between our salves, balms and candles is the oil to wax ratio. Our salves have less beeswax, which makes them softer/more oily, and our balms have more beeswax, which makes them more solid then finally our candles have even MORE wax than salves and balms. If we eliminate the butters and herbal infused oils that are in our salves and balms, they all have the same 3 basic ingredients!
Here at Wild Balms & Salves Co., we care about total body health and wellness, not just skin health. So why not go one step further and offer a healthier candle for our lungs? Most candles are made with paraffin wax. Paraffin is a by-product of petroleum or coal. It’s a cheap alternative to soy and beeswax. Burning candles made with paraffin wax and synthetic fragrances releases volatile organic compounds (VOCs) such as formaldehyde into the air.
These candles are made with wooden wicks and 3 simple ingredients; a beeswax base, coconut oil, and mostly essential oils for fragrance. (We did use Phthalate-Free & Paraben free, non-toxic fragrance oils for some added scent.) And that's it! We looked up the ingredients of some of our beloved candle companies and were disturbed to find that they contain 17+ ingredients we can't even pronounce!
